At Redneck Ranch we only take on 4 outside horses a month for training. We are currently booking for Spring 2010 with 2 spots for April, 2 spots for May; July & August are open yet. With us only taking this limited number of horses means your horse gets the attention it needs. When your horse leaves here it should be able to go on to any discipline that you choose, with softness and confidence. When starting a colt or working with an older horse we don't just ride in an arena. Our facilities include an outdoor arena and round pen as well we trailer out to indoor arenas, local gymkhana clubs, plus we will take them on trail rides through the Qu'appelle valley. All our horses are started in the round pen and rode in a halter the first couple of times. If needed we will also ground drive them and in the near future will be breaking horses to harness. We both believe that the only way to get good quiet horses is to ride them and expose them to as much as possible no matter what discipline you chose to do. All of the colts we start are easy to work with and can be rode out by themselves when they leave here.
We ask that all horses who come to us; have been to the vet and had their wolf teeth out.
Should you have any problems with a horse trained here we will help you as best we can to correct the problem. You are also welcome to come and watch while we work with your horse. Please keep in mind that when horses go home they still need to be used. Horses get quiet and broke from being handled and rode.
Our Horse Experience: I am from Alberta and have spent lots of time riding broke and not so broke horses in the foothills and mountains. I was a trail guide/head wrangler for a summer and have some back country experience with horses. So if you need a good trail horse those are my specialty. I also have been taking dressage and jumping lessons for some time and show my horses at the odd English show. We also ride at 2 different gymkhana clubs and the last 2 years I have gone to provincials. My husband has also done lots of riding in the foothills and mountains. He prefers to do ranch roping and work from the back of a horse. But you might also see him at the odd rope night.
Training Cost: March to November is $550 (GST included) per month; If you would like further info. please call us or email us with your phone # and we will call you back.
Training Cost: December to Feb. is Board ($150) + $20 a ride + GST this price difference is due to the fact we ride outside and that the weather in winter months can be unpredictable. Therefore in winter months we will only ride started horses that just need miles.
We have colts here that are at different stages of training and invite people out to see how we work with them.
We take on a select number of horses to be boarded here.
